One Cosmic Colonic, Coming Up! 🌀

TOMORROW'S TRUTH, TODAY

So Fresh, So Clean

Hey, Reader! A lot of folks found me through the Leo eclipse video, so welcome. We're in it! But if you haven't watched it yet, it's in three spots now: YouTube if you want the visual experience, the blog at homegirlastrology.com if you'd rather read, and the podcast if you're doing dishes, folding laundry (I've got two loads side-eyeing me right now), or sitting in traffic on the 405. Take it however suits you.

Before I jump into the astrology, I want to speak (briefly) on the week we've already had. If you're in the astrology world, you know Steven Forrest (a big name in the industry whom a lot of people look up to) said some racist things on a podcast. The highlights: Under the guise of doing shadow work, he implied that people stopped saying the n-word (with the hard r) because we've lost our sense of whimsy... and that the Ku Klux Klan was founded to protect Southern widows.

He then made a bad situation worse by doubling down on why it made sense to say what he said, giving a piss-poor apology, and ultimately failing to be accountable for his words and the harm they are causing. I'm not going to do a play-by-play of the madness. I'll just say it was fucked up, it's reopened old wounds for a lot of people, and it's handed some folks a license to lose their rabbit-ass minds and let their repressed thoughts out into the daylight. And many felt it was more important to defend his "cancellation" than to support communities impacted by his words. Which, astrologically, tracks. That's what Pluto does. It digs up what's buried, and this eclipse has exposed a lot of folks' true feelings, in a world where Black folk are still being harvested as strange fruit. I see the people hurting from Forrest's words and the fallout. I'm not going anywhere though. I was born for this.

Speaking of what's buried coming up, let's talk about the cosmos, because Steven Forrest isn't the only thing doubling and tripling down...

🧼 Wash your mouth out

On Tuesday the 18th, Mercury meets Hygeia on the world axis. Mercury is the mind and the mouth, how you think and how you talk. Hygeia is exactly what she sounds like: hygiene, cleanliness, purification. Put them together and you get the mind getting scrubbed. Brainwashing, perhaps? Think of it as washing your mouth out with soap, in the best way. It's a good stretch for detoxing from intense thoughts, cleaning up your mental space, and finally releasing the stuff that's been rattling around in your head rent-free. Mayyyybe not in public though. After all, shadow work should probably be done in the, ahem, shadows.

It's a strong few days for the talking cures too, the things that clean you out through your words: therapy, hypnosis, EMDR, a real conversation you've been avoiding. Time to 'fess up. You might also consider doing some digital decluttering. Health talk rises to the top this week too, so pay attention to conversations about your body and your mind. I wouldn't be surprised to see major health news break about a well-known creative person or a community leader.

Underneath all this, the Sun is on its way to meet the South Node, which is the cosmic sewer. It's where things skedaddle. So the release theme gets double-underlined. And the Sun is tangled with Pluto right now, which brings the depth and the intensity, the drive to get all the way to the bottom of something and burn off whatever's been blocking the light. Somebody powerful may be going through their own forced purge in public view. Keep your eyes open.

🚿 While you're at it, detox the body too

This isn't just a mental cleanse moment. It's a good week to clean out the physical vessel, too. Get the colonic. Go to a pro and let them express all that gunk out of your face. Sweat it out, hydrate, and flush the system.

One caution, though. Mars is pulling up to square Neptune, and that combo opens the door to infection, so if you can help it, keep the blade away this week. Heavy on the "if you can help it," but it's not the ideal window for anything that involves cutting into the body. Venus, Mars, and Neptune are wrapped up in a T-square that's already active, so also mind what gets passed around between loved ones, the kind of thing that travels through intimacy: colds, food poisoning, the Clap (and I'm not talking about applause!), etc. Protect yourself out there (Hygeia style 😊).

And keep this in mind: sometimes the purge isn't the one you scheduled. A Mars/Neptune bug can be the thing that flushes you out, the cold or the stomach situation that puts you in bed and clears the system whether you booked it or not. If that's how it goes, let it move through you. But you don't have to wait to get sick to release. Do it on purpose. Choose the cleanse before your body chooses it for you.

Or, best case, all it means is folks having some filthy dreams and impure thoughts this week. If that's you, no judgment. Mercury and Hygeia are standing by to hear your confession.

🔮 Big Deck Energy

Welcome to Big Deck Energy—where I pull a card each week on behalf of our collective to offer insight, reflection, or a much-needed reality check. Think of it as a weekly reset, a moment to pause and take in what’s unfolding. This week, I asked: what do we, as a collective, need to clear out?

The card: The Ace of Pentacles.

Normally this card is the cozy one. A hand holding a gold coin over a walled garden full of lilies, the safe little shell you build to keep the harsh stuff out. It represents home, comfort... your protective husk. On a good day, it's a soothing balm for what ails you. Ahhhh, so nice. 😊

But you asked what to clear out, so the card flips the script on you. *record scratch* What needs to go is the attachment to the shell itself.

Here's the thing about a husk: it's only useful while you're still growing inside it. Stay in there too long and the thing that protected you becomes the thing that buries you and allows you to rot. So the card is pointing at possession consciousness, the grip you keep on old stuff long past its use. And I mean all of it. The ex's hoodie from 2012. You did all that hootin' and hollerin' to "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" after the breakup, yet you still can't seem to donate it. I'm also talking about the routine you've outgrown but keep running because it's familiar. The beliefs you inherited and never bothered to question. How are you going to make room for anything new when your whole life is packed to the ceiling with old shullbit?

Look closer at that card and you'll see a teeny weeny wittle path leading out of the tidy garden, toward the mountains in the distance. That's the adventure you're heading toward. Get grounded, sure, you need a foundation. But don't let what felt sturdy turn into quicksand. Side bar: childhood cartoons really had me thinking that quicksand would play a more prominent role in my life.

And if you read last week's newsletter, you'll see that the BDE theme was similar. Last week implored you to think about whether or not your security is keeping you stuck.

This week confirms that it is. So, do this: clear out the stuff, the habits, the survival-mode comfort, and leave yourself room to walk toward the scarier, bigger thing.

Go release something this week. I'll be in your ears on the podcast. 🫶🏾
