🌱 Worry ‘bout yo’self
TOMORROW'S TRUTH TODAYSeptember 3, 2026 🌚 The setupThe New Moon lands at 18 degrees Virgo. New moons are starting-line energy: what are you seeding, what are you tending, what's the fresh beginning? And Virgo does its darnedest to try to create stability and straighten up an inherently unstable and crooked world. So Virgo stays busy, attempting to stand tall and stay sane while the earth quakes beneath and around. That might sound a little stressful, but it’s also kinda straightforward: Anticipate what will happen. Make a plan. Follow the plan. Drink water. Return the emails. All good. That's not the whole story though... 🤨 But, Eboni, what does Matt Damon have to do with this?Glad you asked. Circe, an asteroid, is getting pulled in by the New Moon because it’s only a degree away from it. If you’ve been to the movies within the last couple of months, maybe you heard a little something about Circe, the Greek goddess of sorcery, who was featured in the film, The Odyssey. Homegirl molded Odysseus’ men into pigs as they uncontrollably lapped up food from her table. There's a femme fatale story that goes along with the mythological Circe that wasn't covered in the movie and I won't get into here, but astrologically, Circe tells us about the impulse to help. It’s the spot where someone is most likely to jump in and start fixing someone else’s problem, oftentimes without being asked. Kinda like when this happens: Siri: Uh huh? Martha Lang-Wescott writes about Circe as “the helping hand that strikes again.” On a good day, Circe (in your chart) facilitates. You see what someone needs, you assist, everybody wins. Yay! On a stressful day, you're inserting yourself into a situation that was fine before you got there (as we said in my youth, “you’re all up in the Kool-Aid and don’t even know the flavor”), and now the person you were helping feels smaller, not bigger, and you look like an ass. So that’s a thing this month. Well-meaning interference that nobody asked for. Don’t be that guhttps://www.homegirlastrology.com/uranian-101/y. 😰 The anxiety part (no, the Virgo part wasn’t the anxiety part)The rising degree of this chart is 15 Gemini, which corresponds to the Nine of Swords in tarot. It’s the 3 AM card, where the person is sitting up in bed with their hands over their face while nine swords hang on the wall behind them. It’s stress, sickness, insomnia, and often gets referred to as "the nightmare card." Yuck. We are a country up at night right now. Stress eating. Stress scrolling. Stress… humping? This chart also shows a Mercury/Saturn/Pluto heaviness that reads as thoughts of death, grief, negotiations at a standstill. Peace talks that aren't moving. Trade deals frozen. The U.S. needs to be at war with Iran as much as I need to be eating this share-size bag of M&M's, but here we are anyway. Meanwhile, Hygeia is sitting with Hades, which we’ve already talked about a lot in relation to food safety issues, and now the USDA is easing meat processing regulations. What could possibly go wrong? 😭 Then Mercury pulls Uranus and Pluto into the mix, which basically means overtaxed nervous systems across the board. The brain and internal wiring are saying “Can’t stop. Won’t stop.” Put all of that together. You've got a New Moon that wants you to build something stable and self-sufficient. And a mental environment screaming at you to worry about everyone else's business, fix everyone else's problems, and lie awake at 2 AM running contingency plans for conversations or scenarios that may never happen. 🎴 The card underneath (Kirkland Signature Big Deck Energy)Here’s the thing. The tarot card corresponding to the degree of this New Moon is the Nine of Pentacles. She's one of my favorite cards in the deck. It's giving: 🎶 She got her own house, she got her own car, two jobs, work hard, you a bad broad. 🎶 She's in her garden with her animal friends, unbothered, well-resourced, and content. Jody's mom in Baby Boy, Juanita, admiring her veggies? That's Nine of Pentacles energy. It's financial independence, emotional independence, cultivated self-sufficiency. The quiet satisfaction of a life you built for yourself. Go girl! That is what this New Moon is actually offering you. A seed to plant in the direction of your own peace. But you’ll be tempted to do the Circe thing and stop doing what you are doing for yourself to go save someone else who you deem to be in distress. 💭 Where you are being asked to lookThe question this month is not who needs my help. The question is: who am I saving at the expense of my own peril? Who am I trying to fix because it lets me avoid fixing something in my own life? Where am I stepping in and taking over because I don't trust the other person to figure their stuff out, and where is that help actually making them feel smaller? This new moon is saying you should be getting your sh*t together, but you'll be very tempted to save them hoes instead. (And when I say “them hoes,” I use it loosely. No disrespect, but you'll know who I'm talking about, whether it's romantic partners, your kids, colleagues, neighbors, whoever.) Sometimes we need to focus on ourselves. 😌 What to do with all thisTwo things. Notice when the helping impulse shows up and pause before you act on it. Ask yourself if the person asked. Ask yourself if what you're about to do actually helps them or just relieves your own anxiety about the situation. Circe wants to guarantee safety, and sometimes the most Circe move is to let the person you love learn the thing they need to learn. Then take whatever energy you would have spent managing their life and put it toward the Nine of Pentacles seed. What does your own garden need? What's the boring Virgo task you've been avoiding because it's easier to be in someone else's business than your own. Do that. This week, I've been reading Tunde Oyeneyin's memoir, Speak. Tunde's a Peloton instructor, Nike athlete, and red lipstick lover. In the book, she keeps coming back to her variation of an Eckhart Toll quote, saying: the beauty of uncertainty is infinite possibility. Homie... You don't have to have a contingency plan for every. single. scenario. You don't need to manage everyone. And I get it, the not knowing can be sooooo uncomfortable, especially, if you grew up in an environment that was super stressful and just… kinda raggedy. But really. Think about a time when you really just focused on yourself, and saw progress. That's the door this New Moon is trying to open. Stop trying to save these hoes long enough to walk through it.
