Lo and behold, I pulled the fall equinox chart for next week and saw that all of us will be putting in work this quarter. See below.

🍂 The equinox is the ingress

An ingress happens whenever a planet crosses into a new zodiac sign. On Tuesday, September 22nd at 8:05 PM Eastern, the Sun crosses into Libra, which happens to be the equinox. Day- and night-time hours come out equal-ish, and we tip into the fall (by the way, the Sun is in its sign of fall in Libra).

Astrologers cast a chart for the moment of an ingress and read it to see what's coming. I focused on the chart for the U.S.A., set in Washington, D.C.

Libra is a cardinal air sign, so the season is about initiating connections with people: Make a friend. Flirt. Throw a compliment somebody's way. Have a party.

😤 WERK.

In the U.S. chart, the Sun and Mercury are both posted up in the 6th house, the area that covers workers, public health, and the nation's food industry (we'll come back to this last one). Chiron and Vesta are together on the Ascendant, and that combination gives us distance, aloofness, a period of renewed dedication to goals, and a lot of time and attention going into work.

Everybody's grinding and nobody's talking much. Kim "Nobody Wants to Work These Days" Kardashian will be thrilled.

The good part of that is Mercury heading toward Zeus. Zeus is directed fire, a flamethrower with a nozzle on it, so Mercury walking into it brings a creative mind that is singularly-focused. It's a good stretch for writing the proposal, outlining the book, and saying the thing you've been talking yourself out of because it's too much.

Mars and Pluto give you the same permission from a different angle. This is a good window for organizing long-term goals around a major change, a brand new idea, or unique perspective.

🌈 It's not all rainbows

So, organizing goals is one version of Mars/Pluto. Another flavor of it highlights Mars's violence and Pluto's connection to extremes. Put them together and you get brutality: assaults, extreme violence, escalations in war. Vulcanus, which magnifies whatever it touches, is also locked into this combo. If a conflict is already burning somewhere, this is the configuration that makes it worse. It’s a tough crowd.

I just gave a talk on Mars/Pluto at the United Astrology Conference (UAC), so I've had these two “baddies” on the brain and a lot to say about them. Let me share a more positive spin. Mars/Pluto moments are when superheroes are born: overcomers, people who react quickly and meet the moment in the most awful, dire, difficult situations, the ones that would mollywhop the rest of us.

On the small and large scale, fuses are short. It’s an explosive blend (often associated with amputees!). People will be touchy over nothing. Go lift something heavy or clean out a closet. Pick a fight with a system instead of your sibling.

Mars is burning down the bottom of this chart, in the fourth house, the part that covers the land and the home. H.S. Green, writing about these charts about a century ago, said Mars there brings:

He says the people will be discontent with their employers and rulers, which… shocker. And crops suffering, in the year we've been having with food.

🤢 Still sick

Ceres and Hades are sitting together down there too. Ceres is food. Hades is the decay and garbage that you wouldn’t give to your worst enemy – or maybe you would, Peppermint Petty 😏. Anyway, Ceres/Hades points to food- and crop-related illness. MAHA is killing it, literally. It should probably stand for Make America Hungry Again – because with all the food-borne illness going around, what will be left to eat?

Chiron on the Ascendant points to a change in the country's health status and a change in the environment -- heading into the cave. I laid this chart over the Sibly chart, which, though contested, is the birth chart many astrologers use for the United States, and the Ascendant lands right on the country's natal Chiron. So that's a double dose. Yay.

The Sun over in the 6th house is at an awkward angle to Chiron, which reads as the sick or injured body, and it's opposite Neptune, which brings contagion, deception, and the fog that clouds a solid diagnosis. That could also mean lying about an illness. I also mentioned the 6th house as the food supply, so here's another nod to its importance in this chart.

😌 What to do with all this

Take an afternoon in the next two weeks and write down the biggest thing you want to accomplish by the time Capricorn season hits, what needs to change, plus the first three moves you’ll make to do the thing. The universe has your back, as they say.

Then protect your body while you do it, because this chart has a ton of illness indicators. Rest is a preventative protocol.

Additional actions for your consideration: Start a garden. Vote in midterm elections. Call legislators about re-funding the CDC and FDA.

There's a disciplined supply of drive in this card, and it's pointed straight at making things. Physical craft, material projects, the actual labor of putting something together.

The image is a master craftsman in the middle of a structure built to last. Upright it reads as construction, paid employment, and commercial success. You're cultivating a craft that lines up with your calling, tapping a reservoir of energy that doesn't seem to run out, and exceeding what the people around you expected. Art must perfect nature. You take raw material and shape it into a masterwork.

Workaholics, unite!

An ingress chart tells you what the world is walking into. Your chart tells you where it lands for you, what's getting torn down, and what you're supposed to put there instead. If you're taking on more than usual right now, it helps to know whether the sky is handing you a green light or a stress test.
